A Prayer to Niht

O Niht , Swarthy one, Day’s rival, Primordial Goddess
Your cloak is cast over heaven and Earth
Embracing all things equally
Whether baying wolf or men at rest
All know your caress
All know your protection

Hear this prayer, O Niht
O, Nourisher
O, Obscurer
Goddess-of-Crossroads
Sleep’s joy
Grant that I might find shelter and safety in your bosom
That I might find respite from the day’s toils
And be provided with dream and fore-token

O Goddess, accept this offering
Humble though it may be
May it reach you
May it please you
May you continue to smile upon us

A Leech’s Prayer

Oh, look upon these herbs collected.
Children plucked from Folde’s fertile womb
May they share your benefits
Oh Goddess rich in vegetation

And to Mōna and to Niht I do call
Dressed in nightfall’s mantle
You who kiss all things with your dew
Dripping to Earth from the horse’s bit
Nourishing all until Sōl reclaims the heavens

Share with me your power
Share it with seed and with sprout
And with all green things
May they prove potent
And drive out sickness and wound
Whether consumed
Or applied upon the body
May we be whole and may we be well

A Prayer to Wada

wada1

Lo! Witness how the Earth shakes and trembles before you
Oh lord of the in-between places
You who treads unseen in shadow
Bringer of dreams and deluge
You who heals wound and ailment
You who lifts the veils

Now at my supplication, O Wada,
Apportioner of wealth and of mægen, grant that the fortunes of our hearth and household be firmly established,
so that those who desire peace and plenty may behold it

Please accept this gift, O Hellegod,
A gift for a gift
I dedicate and I give
May it please you
May you receive it well

A Prayer to Sōl-Hǣlugifestre

Sōl-Hǣlugifestre, High-Leech
She who mends bone, She who removes pain
Oh, Radiant Goddess who illuminates the heavens
and swaddles us in warm embrace

Heaven-kind maiden
She who warms the healing springs
Those who petition you know no distress
And those who wrong you know your curses
For your power is felt in all earthly things

Celestial One, I approach You humbly
And petition You on this day, as I have done many days prior,
So You might cure me of this sickness which afflicts me
So You might provide me with bountiful strength for recovery
So You might shield me from future incursion
Whether elfshot, dwarfshot or witch’s work

A gift for a gift, I dedicate and I give
May this offering please You
May this offering find You well
And may I receive Your blessings,
if You see fit to bestow them upon me

Sol

A Midsumor Prayer to Hengest and Horsa

Oh, supernal Gods revered
Sunbǣras, Hengest and Horsa
They who draw Sōl upon her path through the heavens
divine Steersmen of the sun-barge

So as the wheel of the year doth turn,
so too do I petition thee in the hope that
you bestow your blessings upon us,
to myself, to my household, and to my kin
and provide fair weather and plenty in the coming months

A gift for a gift
I give and I dedicate
May this offering find you well
May this offering be well-received
